Poverty and hunger are important issues in Albania.

In Albania, there are almost half a million people living below the poverty line. They have about 2.8 euros per day for their personal expenses. While the population at risk of poverty is estimated at around 19.7% (ref. INSTAT).

Nationally, the average family spends 40% of their food budget. However, the lower the family budget, the greater the percentage of the budget that is used for daily food.

The most marginalized families can use up to 80% of their food budget.
